Product Description Clear vacuum hose and black suction probe reach down through the dipstick tube to the bottom of the engine pan. Powerful vacuum pump action creates a strong suction that pulls the dirty oil and sludge into the Oil Changer's 2-gallon tank. You can also use it for bailing the boat, removing transmission-oil overfill, cleaning up spills and more!

Topsider oil change on BMW Z3 August 5, 2008 Tang 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
Liquivac Topside Oil Changer
I bought the topsider about 6 months ago to change oil on my BMW. I am very happy with it as it did the job recently very well on my BMW Z3 2000, with 2.5 liter engine. It pumped out all the oil (7quarts). Just follow the directions in the box. I warmed up the engine until the oil is warm (not hot), insert the straight tube to the bottom of the oil pan. Then, pull up a little bit so it does not form a tight seal at the floor of the pan. It took about 15-20 minutes to pump up 7 quarts if you are familiar with the procedure. BTW, I found opening the oil cap and the filter box makes the oil come out easier.

Works like a charm January 28, 2009 Sinner (Texas) 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
This thing works as advertised. It is normally used to change oil on a boat that is still in the water, so it also lets you change a car's oil without jacks, ramps, etc and in about half the time.
I used it on my CLK320 after I read good things about it on Mercedes-Benz forums. It pulled out all 8 quarts and I was test driving in under an hour with no mess and no tools other than a filter wrench.
If you think this thing doesn't work, you're doing something wrong. Read the supplied instructions! For example, don't get the oil too hot or it'll collapse one or both hoses and drain slowly. Also, back the hose off a bit when you feel it bump the pan or it'll stick itself to the bottom of the pan and drain slowly. Finally, you can't just walk away from it expecting the can to fill up all in one go - I had to create a new vacuum three times pulling out about a third of the oil each time.
This is my new favorite addition to the garage!
Great and super clean way to change oil March 16, 2009 fiannafahl 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
I bought the Liquivac Topside Oil Changer after reading a review on Kevin Kelly's cool tools.
It was super simple to put together.
I like the fact that it's sturdy metal.
It says in the instructions that you should have your car warmed up so the oil is warm , but not hot. I have to say keep the oil temp somewhere between warm and hot or it doesn't do as good a job.
I did 2 cars ( dumped out the oil in between)
The first car was at the temp I suggest and all, I mean all the oil came out and it took like no time!
The second cars oil was just warm and I had to pump it a wee bit more ( with the clip closed of course) to get a bit more oil out.
All in all I think this is a fantastic product and it made my oil changing very easy and clean!
Great product September 3, 2009 S. Ashe 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I purchased this for my Jetta to avoid the hassle of driving the car up on ramps, scraping the air dam, every time I needed to change the oil. I waited a little over half an hour for the oil to cool after getting home from work. The unit sucked out the oil in around 10 minutes- I did need to pump it up again twice to keep the flow going at a good rate. It worked slick and made no mess whatsoever. I won't miss crawling under the car and getting covered with dirty oil while I fish for the dropped plug in the bucket (I drop it at least half the time!) If you can't make this thing work, try again after reading the instructions this time.
Above all, this item is well made. I am sick and tired of buying motorized or battery operated things that just don't last. This one is manually operated, all rugged metal, except for the hose, and I expect it will last a long time. Definitely buy this.
